Random Pokemon Type Generator FAQ

How does the Random Pokemon Type Generator work?

Pick a mode (single type, challenge pair, or existing dual type) and how many results you want, then hit Generate. The tool picks uniformly at random from the active pool and instantly shows that typing’s weaknesses, resistances, and immunities.

How many Pokemon types are there in the generator?

All 18 official mainline types: Normal, Fire, Water, Electric, Grass, Ice, Fighting, Poison, Ground, Flying, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, Steel, and Fairy.

What is the difference between Challenge Pair and Existing Dual Type?

Challenge Pair combines any two different types as a house-rule prompt, so the combo may not exist on any official Pokemon. Existing Dual Type only returns pairings that are actually used by at least one Pokemon in the Pokedex.

What is a monotype challenge?

A monotype run forces every Pokemon on your team to share one generated type. It is one of the most popular Pokemon challenge rules and a great way to test your knowledge of type matchups and team building.

Does this tool create custom or fan-made Pokemon types?

No. It draws only from the 18 official mainline types and does not invent custom types, moves, or effectiveness rules. Challenge Pair may combine two types in ways no official Pokemon uses, but each side is still a real type.

Can I use this for fakemon or fan-game design?

Yes. Generate a rare or unused type pairing to find a niche for an original creature. The weaknesses and resistances shown make it easy to design a balanced concept around the typing.
